Here we are!

Welcome to Watch Us Go Green! We hope you'll... well.... WATCH. Watch us. As we attempt to create a very green, very low impact, very energy efficient 6 acres in Tucson, Arizona.

I have a cat sanctuary called Casa de los Gatos, http://www.casadelosgatos.org/ We're a little over 3 years old, and do a great job of saving kitties who have few other options for survival.

Two months ago, I bought some property on E. Tanque Verde Road in Tucson, 6 overgrown acres, with 6 houses on it. The houses were in various states of disrepair, from nearly habitable to NOT.

I connected with a few other crazy and fun people, and we're all hard at work to make the property look lovely and be functional. We're calling it Green Cat Ranch. "We" is me (Beth), Fred, Katy, and a host of other people who work for, volunteer, donate, and otherwise support Casa de los Gatos. Fred, Katy, and I will each live in one of the houses on the property, with our various cats and dogs. Two of the houses will be used for Casa de los Gatos santuary cats, and the largest and nicest house will become a B&B called Green Cat Inn, or more elegantly, La Posada del Gato Verde.

We are very EXCITED! We're going to have a grid-connected array of solar panels, build some strawbale barns and sheds on the property, get a couple of the wells working for irrigation, grow our own organic veggies and plant some fruit trees, eventually have a small greenhouse, and generally live very well and happily while taking good care of our little piece of the earth.

We hope you'll watch as our adventure unfolds!
